Crossover study design. Overnight fasted female subjects ingested 2 capsules containing placebo or 1000 mg of ascorbic acid (AA) 5 min prior to exercise. The exercise bout was performed indoors on a stationary bicycle for 30 min at an intensity corresponding to 65–75% of maximum heart rate. A 1-week wash out period separated the two exercise bouts
